[UNCUT] Press Interview with Kawahara Reki at Sakura-Con 2013
This is the interview article is with the author of Sword Art Online and Accel World, Kawahara Reki.
This article contains SPOILERS! If you do not want to be spoiled on Sword Art Online (including the light novels up to Volume 11) or Accel World. My suggestion to you, Read the light novels or if you wish not to read the light novels. Watch the anime adaptations of Kawahara’s light novels. Another way to avoid major spoilers on Sword Art Online. Head over to Cosplay Victoria and read the Press Interview with Kawahara with no spoilers named: Press Interview with Kawahara Reki @ Sakura-Con 2013
For the interview transcript in this article. I wanted it to be as close to the interview experience I had with Kawahara. Even though I had to correct the grammar of the questions, answers and statements. Luckily these corrections are minor and I did my best to maintain the word for word feel, from the interview. Before the interview began, we were asked not to take photos of Kawahara Reki during the interview. As a result, there will be no photos from the interview. However, while you are reading the interview transcript, I have provided a few photos from Kawahara’s public Question and Answer panel as your visual aids. A few of the questions, asked by other members of press, can be answered with more information by checking out the author’s notes in the light novels. To help find which volume to refer to, I made a note below Kawahara’s answer; “Narmi’s Tidbit: [Information]“.
Toshihiro Kawamoto @ Sakura-Con 2013
This year at Sakura-Con 2013, Cosplay Victoria was given the opportunity, to be a part of the group press interview with Toshihiro Kawamoto. We took the opportunity and this article is a transcript of that group press interview. Enjoy.
“Hello everyone, I am Toshihiro Kawamoto. This is my second Sakura-Con. I am really looking forward to having a good time and relaxing. I will do a brief introduction and profile. I work for BONES, which is a creation company. As an animator, I was involved with Cowboy Bebop and Wolf’s Rain as the Character designer. I was the Character Animation Director in Space Battleship Yamato 2199 last year and for the later half of last year, I worked on Eureka Seven Ao. I can not announce any titles right now, but there are two things that we are working on, that are unannounced by BONES. I really want to announce these two upcoming titles but unfortunately, we need to put off the announcements a little bit more. So, I won’t be able to answer questions about those and I am really sorry but, if you would like to ask anything about my experience as an animator or about BONES. I will be happy to talk about that.
Thank you very much.”
Aoi Eir & Haruna Luna LIVE @ Sakura-Con 2013!
With last year being dominated by the popularity of Fate/Zero. It was now Sword Art Online’s time to hit the charts of popularity in the anime community. How so? By having Haruna Luna and Aoi Eir have their first LIVE performance in North America at Sakura-Con! With this opportunity coming to North America, I am thankful for Cosplay Victoria to choose me as their correspondent at Sakura-Con 2013. To cover Haruna Luna’s and Aoi Eir live performance.
Sakura-Con 2013 guests announcement & hype

With the popularity of SAO (Sword Art Online) growing and Accel World becoming more noticed. Seeing these announcements caught my attention “Seattle’s Sakura-Con to Host Sword Art Online Creator Reki Kawakara” via AnimeNewsNetwork & Sakura-Con’s guest list. Another name that has caught my attention; Toshihiro Kawamoto, well known for his involvement in Cowboy Bebop. Other works he has taken part in; Full Metal Alchemist, Eureka Seven, Angelic Layer, Golden Boy, Mobile Suit Gundam (UC Universal Century universe) and Macross Plus.
Regarding VA (voice actors), Haruka Tomatsu will be attending Sakura-Con 2013. Which is pretty cool since Tomatsu has voiced; Nagi in Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens, Lala Satalin of Deviluke Motto To Love Ru, Micott Bartsch in Mobile Suit Gundam UC, Yunyun in Canaan, Seven in Carnival Phantasm OVA and Megumi in Accel World.
Based on Anime News Network’s article. The list of guest singers does not disappoint; LiSA (not yet confirmed), Luna Haruna (confirmed) and Eir Aoi (confirmed) will be attending Sakura-Con 2013. For those who love Fate/Zero and SAO. This is pretty significant considering all three artists, have contributed to what Fate/Zero (TV) and SAO (TV) is today. In essence, you are getting two for one, for each artist ha ha ha.
Pre-Sakura-Con 2012
I will be attending my second Sakura-Con this year and I am excited.
It has been a year since I cosplayed as Avenger and it could not have been at a better time. With Aniplex and American Cosplay Paradise promoting Fate/Zero and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. (more…)
Vanille and Lightning: Lights && Cameras V

Sakura-Con 2011, Climaxing for the End
After three days of writing, quickly reviewing and a little bit of editing. Behold! Part two of two of my experience, at Sakura-Con 2011. For feedback on Sakura-Con 2011, I will make another post with images of more cosplays and my acquired goods.
Post Sakura-Con 2011, a perspective
Post Sakura-Con 2011 quick initial “report”
As of this post, I have arrived back home from Sakura-Con 2011 Seattle, WA. Looking back at what has happened and the interesting moments I will remember from time to time. Sakura-Con 2011 was amazing. The best way I can put this into words is, “I have tasted one of the holy grails of anime conventions. Anime Evolution won’t be the same.”
Regarding my cosplay of Avenger from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. I think, it was a great success, especially during the Anime Swimsuit competition. Even though I didn’t win, I had a great time with last year’s winner. For this year’s Anime Swimsuit competition, she was wearing a bikini and cosplaying as Horo from Wolf and Spice
I will try to make a blog post as soon as possible. With the end of Sakura-Con 2011, I have many things to catch-up with and those responsibilities will be higher than usual.
A more blog like post will be uploaded soon, do check back within 5 days ha ha ha.
Narmi
Sakura-Con 2011 Ho~!
One week remains until Sakura-Con 2011. I have my cosplay ready to go and I’m excited! Once in a while I realize the situation I have gotten my self into in the midnight hours of Saturday.
Tsukino-Con 2011, a volunteer’s perspective.
It has been some time since I have made a post. Here’s a little glimpse Tsukino-Con 2011 at the University of Victoria in Victoria, Canada from February 24th to February 27th. I worked/volunteered as deputy of security and registration and within 4 days. I can tell you this, be prepared to be busy and not having a chance to attend specific panels and events. Especially when your position in the team is a high position! I missed the opportunity to take more photos due to how busy it was and the amount of human resources we had at the time. Other than that I’m happy Tsukino-Con 2011 was a great success.
